The Hunger Games Part Deux

Thanks to Jen Robinson for alerting me to the fact that PW's posted an image of the sequel to The Hunger Games. According to the article, Catching Fire will be published on September 8 (with a simultaneous audio edition).

Also:
Fans in the book industry can have their first chance to find out those surprises at the end of May—Scholastic will be giving out ARCs of Catching Fire at BEA in New York City.

I've never been to Book Expo America, but I'm seriously considering going this year just for the possibility of getting this book. Well, not just for that... I'm sure BEA would be all kinds of awesome. And I've never been to NYC before... Hmm. Lots to think about... ;)

I know what you mean, Abby. I'm trying very hard to cut back on travel. But ... it's tempting.

Abby and Jen, First of all, I've been to BEA three times, and it is, by far, the most exciting conference I've ever been to. It's such a wonderful celebration of books, and you get your hands on all kinds of ARCs, and authors are all over the place and very accessible.

Of course, like Jen, I am also trying to cut down on travel. But I am sooooo close to NYC. And one of my good friends lives there. And I have a few friends peer-pressuring me to go. So I am still agonizing over whether I'll go or not.

If I lived near NYC, I would really think about it. But I did just put the 2011 conference on my calendar - my better half enjoys going to Vegas, and it's a relatively inexpensive trip for us. Scary to really plan 2 years out, though.

I've had the 2011 BEA on my calendar for a year or so because my aunt lives in Vegas, so I'll be able to get lots of books and spend some quality time with my aunt. It's also usually pretty inexpensive to fly there.

Excellent. We'll hang out. Abby, thanks for letting us use your blog to make plans for 2 years down the road. Perhaps you'll come, too...
